Gamma-Linolenic Acid 240mg
1000 mg of Pure, Cold Pressed Borage Seed Oil
Significance of GLA
The rate limiting enzyme, Delta 6 Desaturase, is essential for the conversion of Linoleic Acid to GLA.
As various factors can impair this enzyme (i.e., alcohol, viruses, saturated and trans-fatty acids, nutrient
deficiency, genetic factors), synthesis of beneficial eicosanoids (PG1) may be suppressed. With GLA
supplementation, Delta 6 Desaturase is no longer required as beneficial series one eicosanoids (PG1)
are formed directly with GLA as the precursor.
