Health Concerns for Women

Health Concerns for Women – here’s to a long and healthy life.

These days a woman’s plate is not just full but over flowing to the point of being unhealthy. We raise kids, manage carpools, fix dinners, do laundry, attend school meetings, drive all over town to doctor appointments and still hold down a full time job. No wonder heart disease, cancer, depression and bone degeneration are on the rise. Let’s talk about how we can avoid these risks and celebrate a long and healthy life.

Heart disease is the number one killer for women. It is also preventable if we proactively take control of our health. Eat a high fiber, low-fat diet. Work toward creating an exercise routine to maintain a healthy weight. Once in a while a cheeseburger and fries won’t kill you but if you continue to eat fatty foods and don’t get the needed exercise your heart is not going to be happy.

High blood pressure or high cholesterol can also be life threatening. If you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol check out how natural remedies and a change of lifestyle can drastically lower these risks.

Don’t smoke!

Reduce the stress by attending a yoga class or find a relaxation technique that works for you. “Me” time is always a great way to relieve stress. Remember, sometimes those dishes or dirty laundry just need to pile up so that you can decompress. Everyone in the household will benefit from your better mood.

While heart disease is the number one killer, Cancer probably is at the top of our list for concerns. But again, we can lower our risks by maintaining a healthy weight, not smoking, limiting our alcohol, getting proper exercise and rest and eating a diet high in raw, leafy green vegetables and fruit. Always use a sunscreen or cover up to protect from harmful ultraviolet rays. Drink lots of pure water!!

Almost twice as many women as men suffer from depression - those darn hormones or genetics or stress at home or at the office or.... whatever, can cause major health issues.

Have you ever heard the expression Be Do Have? Or do you Do Have Be? There is a huge difference. If you Do something to Have things so that you can Be somebody you will never be happy. But if you Be who your are and Do what you love, you will Have what you need. So, have a reason to get up in the morning, be positive and BeDoHave.

Women are at a higher risk than men of Osteoporosis. This disease characteristically causes brittle bones, back pain and a stooped posture but if we build and maintain good bone density throughout our life it is greatly preventable. Eat food high in calcium and vitamin D, which includes dairy products such as milk and low-fat yogurt. Adding a calcium supplement for those reaching menopause can ensure our bodies are receiving the recommended daily dose.

The bottom line – eat as healthy as you can, exercise regularly, find time for you and take natural remedies and supplements intended to  promote women’s health. Let’s all celebrate a long and healthy life.
